Anger and Meditation

Since many religious leaders and groups look at anger as one of the deadliest sins, getting angry is one of the least feelings that people want to express and experience. But actually, getting angry is normal for a person.

Every individual is susceptible to anger; even children as young as 4 years old can exhibit signs of anger. This is a person’s normal reaction once he or she feels humiliated, violated or hurt. This may also be a person’s reaction to frustration and loss.

Anger is commonly categorized into 12 types: constructive anger, behavioral anger, deliberate anger, passive anger, self-inflicted anger, chronic anger, retaliatory anger, paranoid anger, verbal anger, overwhelmed anger, judgmental anger, and volatile anger.

Nevertheless, even if it’s a normal feeling, it doesn’t mean that you’ll let it control you. Anger can have many terrible consequences when left unmanaged. Among the many effects of this feeling include chronic lower back pains and stomach problems.

Studies also suggest that anger can have biological effects on a person’s heart and arteries. It is known to increase the development of fatty deposits in the heart and arteries. Later on, this condition can trigger the development of heart attacks and other heart diseases.

Many people who are unable to manage their anger can also develop high blood pressure. Some people may also develop eating disorders and other psychological problems or may become addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Now there are many ways that can help you control your anger. However, among the most popular methods for controlling anger is meditation. This relaxation technique has been around for many centuries and it has proven its effectiveness for controlling not only anger but stress as well.

Meditation can help people attain inner peace and happiness. Usually, experts recommend to people to practice while listening to soft music like Holosync meditation music CD can help you get into a state of relaxation easier.

Meditation Retreats – A Viable Alternative Of Love, Peace And Happiness

For the unprepared, life will always deal you a bad card. That is just life. Even so, what we see as “bad cards” are nothing but makings of our own mindsets. What some see as hopeless situations, others will see as an opportunity for growth. If you are of the former, you can begin to change your perspective by involving yourself with the programs at meditation retreats. Meditation retreats are set up by experienced and established meditation teachers. The purpose of meditation retreats is to impart knowledge and skills in the art and practice of meditation to willing and sincere students. Z Meditation is a meditation center who offers meditation retreats several times a year in India, and elsewhere.

The most desirable state of man is to live in love, peace and happiness. This state of being encourages the clear thinking necessary for tackling the issues of life. In addition, a calm mind will also be a catalyst for good physical health and as a resisting factor to common and serious ailments. When you examine yourself, and most others around you, however, you will find people living in a state of extreme restlessness and agitations. These are as a cause of predetermined conditionings, which determine how we react to situations and events. Society, family and friends have given us a script to act out. When the acting does not yield the desired effects, restlessness and agitation occur. Meditation retreats go to the core of these wrong beliefs, seeking to help us free our minds from self-made bondage.

Z Meditation offers meditation retreats where the craft of Deep Deconditioning Inquiry is taught. This inquiry helps us to dig up and root out these societal and other conditionings, leaving a clear mind that is non-expectant and non-demanding. This new state of awareness does not mean you will be living as one in a cave. Rather, the clarity with which you can think, and not dream, will enable you to find solutions quickly and efficiently to the challenges you face.

Meditation retreats are nothing of the obscure. Meditation has been practiced for centuries in most parts of the world, rooted in religious practice. In India, the practice of meditation is mostly related to the ancient Buddhist practices. The meditation retreats organized by Z Meditation, however, have no religious connotation whatsoever, being open to people from any base of faith.

Meditation retreats may also be seen as a form of holiday destination, albeit one with practical advantages. Moreover, meditation retreats as a vacation alternative will cost you a fraction of what you may have to part with at other regular holiday retreats.

For those who wish to return to their center, love, peace, and happiness – meditation retreats provide a viable alternative. The process of learning is simple and merely requires a sincerity and commitment. Remarkable progress has been observed in students within just a few days of the practice.

The peace and joy of the heart open the door for everything else.

Some of the Most Popular Meditation Techniques

Meditation is not just limited to one technique. Listed below are a variety of ways for you to practice this procedure. You can do one, two or a combination to achieve the desired results. One technique may be different from the others per se but ultimately leads to the same end result. Review each one and find out which best suits you.

1.) Breathing meditation

This is probably the simplest form of meditation. Here’s what you need to do: First, find a comfortable, soothing place to do your meditation. Make sure you cannot be disturbed. Take deep breaths that what you normally take. By that, I mean a long, slow, and deep breath. Slowly release it after holding it for a few seconds.  Repeat as much as you can. This is the simplest and quickest way to achieve a relaxed mid and body state.

2.) Walking meditation

This is still an easy technique, the difference however, with the first technique is that you work with the environment, obviously, as you need to walk (precisely why it is called as such) to maintain your mind and body balance. Make sure you stay is a secluded area, like a local park, instead of going somewhere with too much noise where you can’t possibly get some mind concentration around. With the walking meditation technique, you need to pay attention to your feelings and your surroundings. Give yourself at least 20 minutes to do this technique. Take a gentle walk in the area, feeling the sound and warmth of the area around you as you walk.

3.) Binaural beats meditation

This is a rather modern method of meditation.

This technique is unique in that you play a CD or MP# layer for a good 3o minutes to an hour to get some mind concentration. Here you listen to background noise like rainfall or other soothing music alongside with binaural beats that typically play two different tones one into each ear. Your brain does the work by resolving the small difference between the two binaural beats, leading you  to a meditative state effortlessly.

4.) Cosmic meditation

As the name implies, this technique is linked to cosmic ordering. This technique enables one to feel relaxed and allows one to send your goals and thoughts to the cosmos.

You may of course, try all the techniques and see which one best suits you. Meditation, when done regularly, maintains a great mental balance that will guide you towards better physical health as one’s mind is trained towards maintaining its best possible functioning.

Marriage As Meditation

Marriage, under the best of circumstances, can be likened to Pandora’s box in that it can set free all the negative quirks and egoic faults each other has. But there is something to be said for a close relationship between a husband and a wife in which both parties can “tell on themselves” and expose whatever ego issues arise between them. Fear, jealousy, insecurity and the like are utterly destructive forces in personal relationships, unless of course, these things can be honestly expressed and discussed as they arise. In this case there is no permanent harm. In this way the ego and its ways are disarmed even as it is brought to the Light of day where it is exposed and ultimately sterilized into nothingness in the same fashion that the fictional vampire is dissolved in sunlight.

It takes a strong commitment to what is right,… a strong commitment to the Truth…in order to overcome the self-protective and destructive aspects of the ego because it is highly embarrassing to look at, let alone admit to, what is wrong with oneself. It requires a greater commitment to the Truth than it does to saving face, to excuse making and/or denial in order to overcome ones ego. But really, what is the alternative to facing the truth about oneself? The alternative is to preserve and act out of the ego, and uphold all of its destructive ways, consciously or unconsciously. It is to defend, attack, excuse and/or accuse rather then face the truth about oneself. It is to act out of egoistic fear, jealousy or insecurity instead of passing through them to greater love between the two. It is to destroy the very integrity of the relationship because truth and reality is sacrificed for the lie.

It is the very definition of hell within a relationship….a sickness that ferments in the darkness of denial, and slowly rots the integrity of the relationship from the inside out. There is something about a close relationship that brings to the surface all the egoic faults that otherwise would lay dormant within each other.

No wonder it is said that marriage is the place where one can “work out” ones salvation. Who doesn’t need to be saved from ones ego? Marriage is a chance to face head on and overcome ones ego as revealed in the mirror of an intimate relationship with another. And though it does not take two to make a spiritual practice out of a relationship, it is a real blessing when the two can come together to openly and honestly bring to the Light all that is selfish and self-serving between them. Exposure of the egoic play between the two not only exposes and disarms the ego and its games, but also allows for genuine respect and understanding to grow between them.

Respect for the strength of the truth-teller who dares to risk exposing them self for truths sake, but also for growing understanding and compassion for the inherited egoic conditioning the other carries yet wishes to overcome. Here in lays the hope and promise of marriage, and here in lays the possibility of a growing, lasting Love Relationship between two human beings.

Meditation Music

Meditation music can significantly enhance your meditation session. Gentle sounds and rhythms can help you to achieve a deeper state of calm, peacefulness and relaxation.
It is well established that sound and rhythm can create mental and emotional environments. As early as the 1920s, researchers were making connections between music, enhanced mental alertness, concentration and imagination.

Music has the capability to directly affect our physical being. Many cultures ascribe to this tenet. For example, according to the principles of Indian music, human beings are composed of sound. The vibrations inherent in sound can either bring us into greater accord with the vibrations of the universe or completely disrupt our chakras (centers of being). Music for meditation can either inhibit or expand our consciousness, depending on the selection that we make.

All this talk of alignment, vibrations and chakras may seem daunting, but the principles behind choosing appropriate meditation music is really quite simple. Basically, if you are looking to create a specific atmosphere, the tempo of the music should match the mood that you are trying to bring about. For example, upbeat and catchy tunes are most appropriate for the workplace or in other situations where you need to stay awake and focused. For meditation music, a compilation of soothing tones and sounds will take you where you need to go. You really can’t go wrong with meditation music that is peaceful, relaxing and tranquil.

Music for meditation is as much about personal choice as anything else. Ask yourself, “When do I feel the most relaxed? When have I felt the most at peace in my life?” For example, if you have an affinity for the ocean, you might choose a meditation CD with the sound of waves crashing upon the shore. Or, if you like jazz, you might choose meditation music with gentle piano and saxophone rhythms. Remember, meditation is a personal journey and it is up to you to choose which tools you are going to take along.

There are many resources which offer meditation music. Music for meditation is now widely available online, in bookstores, in popular music shops and in health and wellness stores. Some meditation CDs are a collection of harmonies, while others offer spoken words and mantras to guide you along the way.

Other types of meditation music are specifically designed to release past hurts and emotions through a combination of music and guided imagery. Still others help you to deal with inner fears or severely traumatic experiences. Meditation CDs may be used alone or as part of a more formal music therapy program.

If you are new to meditation, you may have difficulty descending into the calm and tranquil state that is so necessary for maximum clarity and self-discovery. Here, music for meditation can be a great tool in creating a profound meditative experience.

As you gain experience, turning on your meditation CD may become an unnecessary step in your journey. However, many find that music makes their meditative experience that much more energizing and refreshing.

Achieve Serenity and Happiness – Buddhist Walking Meditation

If you want to experience serenity and happiness, Buddhist walking meditation is one path. It is achieved by bringing a moment to moment awareness (power of now) into your daily life. The walking meditation provides many benefits, takes only 15 to 20 minutes per day and is an easy 5-step process.

Benefits of walking meditation:

* Feeling sense of serenity and happiness
* Achieving a deeply relaxed state
* Naturally “letting go of thoughts” (of the past or future)
* Experiencing Law of Impermanence (all things rise and pass away – nothing permanent – (Anicca or Anitya in Sanskrit)
* Feeling compassion and loving-kindness for all sentient beings

Walking meditation instruction:

General note: Wear comfortable clothing and choose a location (a seashore, a park, a quite neighborhood, your backyard, etc. Allow about 15 – 20 minutes for walking meditation.)

1. Keep your eyes open and start ‘conscious breathing’ by breathing in through your nose and breathing out through you mouth. Be sure to make the breathing audible.

2. Start walking at your normal pace (you can walk in a circle – no beginning and ending or you can walk forward and come back). After a while you might naturally walk slowly. NOTE: There is no destination only the journey.

3. Observe your breathing and allow all thoughts to come about. You might notice how your mind takes you to the past (by remembering something from the past or by trying to re-write ‘history’) or takes to the future (planning something in the future, imagining, day dreaming, etc). It is important that you do not try to get rid of all your thoughts. Letting go is a natural process that occurs by simply bringing awareness to your breathing, and thus into the present moment.

You might experience both thoughts and your breathing, and so you are in the present and observing your mind at work.

4. After you finish you walking meditation you can stay still or even sit down on a bench and close your eyes.

5. As you feel deeply relaxed, conclude your meditation with the loving-kindness mantra – Metta in Sanskrit. This should be done from the depths of your heart.

Loving-kindness Mantra (Metta as shared by Lama Surya Das) May all beings be happy, content and fulfilled, May all beings be healed and whole, May all beings have whatever they want and need May all beings be protected from harm and free from fear, May all beings be awakened, liberated and free, May there be peace on earth and the entire universe. As you continue doing walking meditation daily, you will achieve serenity and happiness by bringing yourself to the present moment (power of now). By using loving-kindness mantra (Metta), you will start cultivating compassion towards all sentient beings. The 5 step processes will make a profound difference in your life.

May you be happy!

Medicine for the Soul CD Series Makes Meditation Accessible to Everyone

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) September 15, 2006

Breathe and relax. Familiar words for those who have explored meditation. But meditation is not easy to attempt, let alone master. New age artist Dyan Garris introduces a soothing series of six CDs meant to help bring the positive effects of meditation to all by merely following one simple instruction: just listen.

Comprised of multi-layered, angelically channeled music, each CD is meant to build on each other as the listeners progress from one to the other. Though not necessary to follow each in a linear order, they offer the maximum healing effect when heard in progression.

Meditation is often seen as an effort, notes Dyan Garris. It should not or does it have to be a chore. Everyone has the ability to connect to a higher source. For beginners, these CDs guide the listener right through the process of meditation whereas seasoned students of meditation will find the music and journeys a refreshing change of pace.

Vibrational Attunement

There is a trend on the new age horizon called vibrational attunement. Since 1993, Dyan Garris has not only been at the front lines of the movement but leading the way. But what is it and how does it play into the Dyan Garris CD collection?

Vibrational attunement is a way of absorbing healing vibrations. It is a balancing of the mind, body and spirit that uses subliminal vibrations on a subconscious level to release trauma, patterns, and blocked energies in order to help people move forward on the path of positive awareness. It brings together the ethereal layers of someones energy field and balances them with the mind and body. In essence, this style attunes the listeners mind, body and spirit. Vibrational attunement works whether or not the listener is aware of the healing power of sound. Thats the style of the music and meditation series of CDs created by new age artist Dyan Garris.

This is not just relaxation music, explains Garris. This music and meditations work to change peoples lives. They open pathways for spiritual growth and transformation. It shifts and releases with the listener, making the journey truly personal so they can feel the sense of peace and healing needed in order to reconnect and find the balance they seek.

Medicine for the Soul

Traditional new age music is free form. However, Dyans brand of vibrational attunement actually has a melody and lyrics. Based on the ancient concept and power of sound healing, each CD is composed to relax and prepare (vibrationally attune) the listener.
