Drug & Alcohol Treatment For a Faster Recovery

There are many rehab centers that can provide an addict with effective and long lasting drug & alcohol treatment. These counselors at these centers have a great deal of knowledge and experience in helping addicts create a positive life change. Specific treatments are prescribed after a detailed analysis of the history and personality of the addict and the severity of their addiction. These personalized programs can be extremely effective in the rehabilitation of the addict.

Addicts may often refuse help at first and a detox program is necessary to help clear the mind. After determining the causes of the addiction counselors guide the patient through the rehab process with relative ease and comfort. The support and care given by the rehab centers often helps addicts gain a quite fast recovery. They help the patient return to normal life drug free.

Long-term drug abuse can take an incredible toll on the mind and body. Everyone should be aware that drug addiction can be a life-threatening disease. The earlier treatment can begin, the better chance there is of a full recovery with minimal lasting health problems. Treatment programs take a holistic approach, attacking the problem of addiction from multiple angles. The supportive and nurturing environment of the rehab allows the addict to concentrate on his or her recovery free of judgment.

Though addiction is a serious problem, it is successfully and routinely overcome by treatment in a rehabilitation program. Addicts who attempt to detox on their own without a program usually find the pain of withdrawal insurmountable or lack the tools to continue a sober life after detox. The journey to sobriety can be far less painful and far more successful through drug alcohol treatment.

Drug Addictions That Occur After An Injury

Most all individuals can empathize with the suffering that may occur from some sort of injury at one time or another in our lives.  Some cases may be worse than that of others, but most seem to have some understanding of what is like to incur sever pain and the recovery process it all entails.  Those who have not, can consider themselves the minority, and lucky few.

In recovering from broken bones, sprained ankles, tendinitis, or even something as serious as a devastating car crash; we are often given a healthy supply of pain medications by our physicians, to ease the suffering.  In taking these prescription medications safely and as per our doctors recommendations, we may heal just fine.  Although, there are cases in which an individual may become addicted to the feeling of a lesser pain, or a relaxed state of body.  With this, there may be a chance of drug addiction after incurring an injury.

How do I know if my loved one is becoming addicted to their pain medications and/or prescription meds?
It is often the case that an individual who is becoming addicted to pain meds or prescription drugs, will over-exaggerate their pain level.  They will immediately ask for the pain pills instead of finding other ways in which to minimize their pain.  These ways may include:  readjusting themselves in bed, readjusting their injured body part, loosening a bandage, etc.  When this is the case, unfortunately you may be serving pills to a loved one who is becoming addicted to their prescription.

Another sign that your friend or family member may be becoming addicted, is when your loved one seems to be recovering in a healthy and complete manner, but are still falling into the habit of reaching for the prescription drugs.  You may test your theory by taking the prescription away from the patient’s bedside, so that they must ask each time they are in need of their pills.  This is a good way in which to monitor their drug use, and perhaps, abuse.

Yet another sign of possible addiction, is if the dosage continues to run out, before the refill is due; or before another bottle of the prescription is necessary.  Monitor your friend or family member’s pill intake each day.  If the pills are quickly disappearing, there may be an issue at hand.

Prescription medication must be taken with care, and is not prescribed to be a consistent way to avoid the issue at hand – an injury.  When an individual is injured, a certain amount of pain should be expected.  The meds are there to ease that pain, not numb the patient completely.

If you or somebody you care for is suffering from a potential addiction to prescription or pain medications, it is often best to speak directly with the professionals.  A drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in your area may have the answers to questions you have been pondering.  Rehabilitation programs are everywhere, and professionals within those centers and programs are ready and willing to be of service.

How To Overcome Alcoholism or Drug Addiction In Four Steps

Beating an addiction to drugs or alcohol doesn’t require special intellect, some unique formula, or heavily guarded secret. There is no miracle cure, magic pill, or expensive medication. On the contrary in fact, because the steps you need to follow are mostly about using common sense.

Yes, getting professional help or going through an addiction treatment program can be a massive help. Not so much because the treatment and help provided is rocket science, but because it provides you with a safe and supportive environment for making the changes that need to be made.

Keep hanging out with drunks and drug users, and that’s what you’ll remain. Surround yourself with healthy, supportive, loving, successful, humble and grounded folk … and that’s what you’ll become.

Step 1: Responsibility

Until you take absolute and total responsibility for your addiction, you’ll never recover. Because until you do, you always leave yourself with a ‘back door’ or excuse to keep using. No one else can make you pick up that drink or drug … so blaming a spouse, parent, partner your childhood, work or whatever just won’t cut it.

Accepting total responsibility is about humbling yourself and saying, ‘this is my mess and the only person that can fix it is me.’

Step 2: DWIT

DWIT stands for ‘Doing Whatever It Takes.’ That needs to be your attitude – you’ll do whatever it takes to recover from your addiction to drink or drugs. Too many people think they can negotiate their way to sobriety.

‘I don’t feel like doing this,’ or ‘That isn’t really for me.’ If you’re serious, you’ll simply do the things you need to do. Once you’ve turned your life around and have recovered from your addictions, sure drop NA or AA if you think working your own Spiritual Program is something you’re more comfortable with.

But don’t use the excuse, ‘AA isn’t really my thing’ as justification to keep drinking. If you’re desperate enough, you’ll go to AA or whatever other recovery program can help you whether you like it or not.

Step 3: Reach Out

Many people stay stuck in a life of addiction because they’re too scared or ashamed to ask for help. Unfortunately alcoholism and drug addiction still carry a certain social stigma so nobody wants to be thought of an alcoholic or drug addict. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

Would you rather kill yourself than get the help you need to start living a healthy, prosperous and fulfilling life? Doesn’t make sense. Living the life of addiction is an incredibly lonely and isolated place. That’s why treatment programs are so powerful because suddenly you realise you’re not alone and there are others going through exactly what you are.

Having that support is incredibly powerful. So if you take nothing else from this article – ask for help! There are loads of people out there ready and waiting to help you.

Step 4: Unlock Your Potential

Unlocking your potential is about making the decision that you want to go beyond just thinking about survival, because that’s essentially what living the life of drugs and alcohol entails.

This is about embracing your recovery to the full and becoming all you can be. Decide that you want to fulfil your potential spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. Join programs, read books, take classes, learn how to meditate, make new friends, start a new hobby.

That can sound scary, but remember it’s about taking baby steps. This is where recovery programs can help and make such a difference. Because integrating with people in the same boat as you who are also there to support you, makes the world seem a much less scary place, especially initially.

There is nothing particularly new or revealing in anything I’ve just said. But sometimes we over complicate things and make it seem harder than it needs to be. So it’s about getting back to basics and reminding ourselves of the timeless principles that lead to lasting and permanent change.

Family Dynamics of Addiction and Recovery – How to “Let Go” to Regain Your Own Peace of Mind

What are you afraid of? Fear and anxiety are part and parcel of daily life with familial addiction. Fear is a paintbrush that colors almost all aspects of family life. Some fears are easily recognizable in an addicted family: “What if he gets arrested?” “When am I going to get the call in the middle of the night saying that she has died in a drunk driving wreck?” “I never know when I write a check if there will be any money in the bank to cover it.” “He may decide that he wants to change careers again for the third time this year.”

Family members experience a variety of fears living in an addicted system. All kinds of survival roles and behaviors develop to attempt to minimize the fear, anxiety, and general pain of not knowing what will happen next, and to deal with the dysfunction happening in the present. With so much turmoil going on, it is no surprise that family members feel compelled to establish some kind of control.

The need for control becomes compulsive. The more the persistent attempts to recover or maintain control, the more the emotional discomfort increases, rather than decreases. When family members are instructed to “let go of control”, it usually initially makes no sense to them. If they don’t have control, (or at least try to), who will?

They work extremely hard pursuing an illusion of control. Every time they think that they have figured out something that will work to minimize the drinking or the detrimental consequences of the drinking, it won’t work the next time they attempt it. They keep trying the same things over and over, not being able to believe that letting go, would actually reduce their emotional turmoil rather than increasing it.

Letting go of the drive to manage others is a notion that may initially be incomprehensible. When you think about your previous attempts to stage-manage not only the lives of your family members and the real affect of your efforts, you can identify that your efforts do not work – with predictability and consistency.

Attempts to remain in control of the details and events of one’s life and environment are about trying to manage anxiety and trying to solve problems. It is very difficult to solve the problems that belong to someone other than yourself. You typically will not get much cooperation.

While there seems to be a contradictory relationship between “letting go” and empowerment, if you are compulsively trying to resolve the problems that do not belong to you, you will not have the time and energy to solve the problems that are your responsibility. One of the things learned in the twelve step recovery program for family members of alcoholics is that faith in a “power greater than yourself” helps to abolish the fear, while you are practicing “letting go” of others.

The actual mechanics of how to let go is somewhat more illusive. “Letting go” is not the same thing as detachment with anger or “emotional cutoff.” “Letting go with love” involves accepting the reality that you actually don’t have authority over others’ feelings, decisions, and behavior. It involves giving up responsibility for others’ business. Letting go allows others the dignity to assume responsibility for their own lives. Giving up the illusion of control of others empowers family members to decide how they can genuinely live their lives in the fullest way possible.

For a beginning effort to let go, first identify the ways in the past, that you have tried to assert control over your significant other.  Identify exactly how those attempts have not worked over time, consistently.  Identify the negative consequences of those efforts on your own life. To continue your efforts in letting go, when you feel compelled to step in, ask yourself, “Whose business is this?” If it’s not your business, stay out of it. If you answer yourself, “It is my business because his/her behavior affects me”, then identify where your power and your responsibilities lie. Then, take custody of your own responsibilities in the situation.

How do you know that you are letting go? You don’t spend your day worrying about what someone else is doing or not doing. You don’t step in to solve someone else’s problems, then feel compelled to sell the solution to them. You don’t spend your energy trying to determine out how you can take charge of your own needs after you have used all your resources taking control of someone who should be taking care of themselves. You find that you often have serenity even amidst the presence of life’s ups and downs and problems.

Why Music While Meditating Helps

There are many reasons why music while meditating helps people relax and meditate completely.

First of all, while you do not have to have meditation music, it can help if you have something soothing going on. Many people have found that the music begins to set them into meditation mode because they use the same music all the time, hence, allowing them to relax sooner.

Also, as much as we would like a completely silent area to meditate, exterior sounds often come through. This means that your subconscious is actually checking in on those sounds to check for danger, or an alert signal. By adding music you can actually reduce your subconscious mind’s worry over extraneous sounds.

Other people start the music early, because it allows them to sit down and actually meditate. While they finish up chores around the house, or other duties, there body is starting to recognize that it’s time to meditate and they find that they actually get the medidation done.

Other people feel that music during meditation is the wrong thing to do. If you’re curious whether it will help your meditation, you’ll have to try a variety of different types of music and sounds. Many types of music are available for download on the Internet, this can allow you a variety until you find the music that works for you, or find out if it actually hinders you.

If your curious as to whether your particular form of meditation can use music as a tool, try it and see if it helps. Then you may need to speak to your meditation supervisor. Often, they may have helpful hints as to what type of music or sounds you should use, or be able to explain to you why you shouldn’t use music at all.

Find a great source of music for meditating and check out these meditation music downloads.

Music Computational Engine

Music Computational Engine

In my last article “What is computational Music?” I explained in plain words what is computational music and what will be expected from a software that generates computational music based on Indian Music Computational theory. This article is giving a simple introduction on how to generate computational tones for fun and learning power of computational music engines or software.

Step 1: Go to site called tones.wolfram.com/generate/

Step 2: Make sure to have Quick Time Plug-in installed on your browser.

Step 3: Make sure your computer can play sound i.e MIDI Data.

Step 4: Make sure you have latest version of standard browsers and Javascript enabled.

Step 5: tones.wolfram.com cannot work without Internet connection make sure it works, however it can work without broadband connection.

Step 6 : Now, Look at the compositional controls on the web page, to develop your tone you must have knowledge of following before you really begin developing your own composed tone:

1. Musical Scale

2. Music Pitch Levels

3. Time Based : Tempo

4. Time Based : Duration

5. Music Instruments

Step 7 : Once you have acquired knowledge of concepts mentioned in step 6 to certain degree you can start experimenting to generate computational tones.

Step 8: Assuming that you have some degree of knowledge of music genre, we can select “new composition button”

Step 9 : Select the Style or music genre.

Step 10 : You may select “Show Variations” of the music style you have selected. It shows images for five compositions derived by making increasing changes to the Seed and Rule used to generate them.

Step 11 : One by one select the Instruments, Scale, Tempo, etc.

Step 12 : If you are done, now play or download your tone.

Categories of Music Gear

Categories of music gear encompass under them a wide range of musical instruments and equipment. There are a lot of categories and sub categories of music gear. They can be classified based upon the usage or based upon the mechanisms.

The two main categories that they can be classified into are acoustic and electronic. The gears that do not need any external electrical help are called acoustic music gears. Any acoustic instrument is a part of this category. The gears that are electricity supported are called electrical music gears.

Acoustic music gear

This category of music gear includes mostly the instruments and equipment in their original versions. Acoustic music gear do not need any external electrical help. Very good instances of this category of music gear are acoustic guitar, acoustic drums, violin, flute or any other acoustic instrument.

But the most interesting factor about acoustic music gear is that some of them can be used as electronic gear. You can take acoustic guitar for instance. If you add a pick up with the acoustic guitar, then it can be played electrically. Then the sound of this guitar can be deviated into the amplifiers. That means the sound will be heard from the amplifier.

But do not think that by adding a pick up you can use the acoustic guitar just like an electric guitar. That is not possible. Pick-ups just pave the way to the amplification of the sound. It cannot change the tone or the effect. Do not mix up acoustic guitar with the electric guitar. Though both of them are guitars and their playing style is the same, that does not mean that they are the same. They are widely different in many aspects.

Electronic music gear

This is one of the most important categories of music gear. Electronic music gear is totally different from the acoustic ones. This category of gear cannot be used without electricity. Electric guitar, synthesizer, and octopad fall in this category. Apart from them there are other kinds of electronic gear also. There are microphones, amplifiers, processors and pedals.

Though some of the acoustic instruments can be played electrically, no electrical instrument can be played acoustically. Electric connection is necessary for all of them.

The most important accessories of any musical instrument are amplifiers and microphones. The amplifier and microphone are almost the same. They enhance the sound of the instrument and vocal. The microphone collects the sound and carries it to the audience. But the amplifier just spreads the sound. They cannot collect them. To collect, you need a microphone.

While talking about electronic music gear, one cannot forget to mention the processor. The processor is a tiny gadget that consists of a whole lot of brilliant effects and tones. If you connect your guitar with this gadget, then you will be able to use all these tones and effects. There are some good quality processors available these days that provide you some more facilities like mixing two of the existing tones and making a new tone of your own.

The Stars Twinkle In The Background of This Deeply Sonorous CD — Literally

Oil City, PA (PRWEB) June 20, 2006

You are Star Dust, a newly released CD, lets the stars twinkle in the background of this sonorous CD, literally.

Our physical body is primarily made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. The stars are made of these too. Our bodies and the stars are made out of the same stuff.

A French physicist, Joel Sternheimer, discovered the sounds of the elements in the Periodic Table. Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen give off frequencies, a song if you will. Composer Jill Mattson adds, “The stars vibrate a tune and so do our bodies!”

Sternheimer learned that amino acids in plants produce melodies. We cant hear them, but with his equipment Sternheimer has heard and recorded them. When Joel played each plants amino acids melody to the plant, its growth doubled and the plant increased its resilience to drought and disease. Composer Jill Mattson reports, “This says to me, that if we can bring our frequency back into harmony, we become all that we were meant to be.”

A strong vibration in close proximity with a lessor vibration will cause a lessor vibration to change and mimic the stronger vibration. So when one hears the sounds of the stars, these sounds vibrate that person into harmony with the songs of the heavens.

According to Hans Cousto, one can calculate the pitch of a planet if we know the time it takes a planet to move in its orbit: frequency=1/period. For example, the earth takes 365.24 days for its orbit around the sun, so the earths frequency is 1/365.24 days. By increasing this frequency by octaves, this note can be heard.

Cousto suggests that when you tune into the earths frequency, you tune into a powerful energy force, much like what the Indian and Tibetan monks have done. They are already in harmony die to their regular meditation. Also, an octave of the earth- day frequency is the same frequency of our DNA, so tuning into the earth tone tunes up our DNA, as well.

Cousto says; Meditation music attuned to the sun tone is beyond all imagination and will lead the listener into new dimensions. It is for souls who are full of joy and whose spirits are clear, for those who are prepared to leave everything behind them without regret. Meditation carried out to the sun tone will lead the listener to a state beyond good and bad, shame and guilt, beyond space and time.

Listen to these tones on the You are Stardust CD by Jill Mattson. The planets, earth, moon and sun are played on tuning forks and twinkle in the background. “Tuning you to the tones of the heavens!” adds composer Jill Mattson.

The stars twinkle in the background, but what does the music sound like? Each track evokes swimming and ethereal melodies reminiscent of new age artist, Enya and the haunting vocals of Sarah Brightman reports The Derrick Newspaper.
